MALAGA Provincial Court has sentenced a man to 10 months in prison and a fine of €7,200 for abusing his girlfriend.
The Public Prosecution was asking for six years in prison for holding the woman against her will in July 2004, but the court rejected this because although the accused had taken her keys and mobile phone, she was able to call her family and spent the time sunbathing on the terrace, which looked out onto a busy street.
At their Benalmadena home the accused punched the victim twice, pushing her to the floor, where he continued to kick her. He then locked her in the house so no-one could see the injuries he had caused her.
However, he had a doctor see her, brought her painkillers and released her a week later so that she could go to her sister’s wedding.
